Our Approach

With Lucille’s support and guidance as a multi-partial mediator, the mediation sessions allow for you to share openly and freely and by recognizing everyone has a unique set of experiences, perspectives, and depth of knowledge.

Lucille’s approach is one that neither takes sides nor pushes you towards a specific agreement; instead, she utilizes specific techniques that empower you to speak freely in the presence of your counterpart(s). This allows everyone to feel heard and to hear from each other in new and different ways.

As a result, you all can gain mutual understanding, find common ground, and make decisions and agreements.

Connect

Let’s Start the Conversation. Check in about your situation at no cost in order to gather information and get clearer about if Held is right for you. How? Fill out the contact form, email lucille@heldmediation.com, or call 845-432-4806. All inquiries are confidential.

Consultation

Following the initial chat you’ll schedule an individual consultation. This allows time for you to share your unique perspective and to clarify and express what’s most important as you move forward with the mediation process. The consultation also gives you ample time to ask questions, which are encouraged. Held believes that the consultation is integral to the process because it helps clients participate and prepare in a way that feels informed, supported, and secure.

Mediation Session(s)

A mediation session includes everyone involved, together. You all will meet jointly with Lucille for as many sessions as are needed to achieve the intended outcome. Mediation sessions are typically 1-2 hours long, depending on everyone’s comfort level and willingness to proceed.

Check In(s)

Fear not, you are never left on their own (unless you want to be of course). Lucille regularly connects with clients to ensure the process is going smoothly and answer any questions they have as they proceed forward.

Agreement Drafting

Depending on the type of mediation, Lucille will draft an agreement, either live in session or afterwards. These details will be discussed in their entirety with each client in order to make a determination prior to the first joint mediation session.

Closing, Referral Phase

Again, depending on the unique situation and your need, the next steps in the process may include a referral from Lucille to an attorney or other professional. These details will be discussed in their entirety with you in order to make a determination prior to your mediation session.
